Horray - managed to get out and harrow and roll the fields this morning - spring might be on it's way

Anyone been brave enough to put any grass seed down yet? - do those in the know think we're done with snow!

Not got any harrows yet but we did roll one paddock last night- We do it with a 4x4 and got quite seriously stuck at one point (woops!) but after assessing which bits to avoid still the field looks brilliant :) It even looked greener after which was a relief as I really thought we'd trashed them all this year!

We actually harrowed our hay field several weeks ago!! Before the temps dropped.

Now on those ghastly trashed winter paddocks. We will certainly patch seed this week as rain is forecast and we have had a fair bit of sunshine, in spite of light morning frosts. I personally think it is better to risk wasting a bit of seed on small areas, rather than miss a good window for germination.

I was going to do it at the weekend but ran out of time so will hopefully do this weekend. Although the cold is still forecast it's at least drying up so thought I would make a start.

Hope to get out to harrow at the weekend as it looks a little warmer - arctic winds in Kent. It's due to snow all day tomorrow so that may scupper my plans.

Haven't harrowed the school in weeks as tractor is in barn with a seriously boggy bit just in front :(

I harrowed last time there was a decent window in the weather but will get the harrow out again this week and have another good go at the paddocks already done and another set of paddocks and then hopefully reseed - need to get on and order seed for collection though:)

Top field got harrowed last week and hopefully the back field will get done this weekend :D Not seeding them though as the grass grows really well considering the abuse it gets from over 20 horses each winter. Last year we had more than we knew what to do with :p
