My fields are about bang on to barrow now, but the long range forecast suggests end of March/start of April might be rather wet.
So do I see if farmer can come in the next few days or hold out till mid-April-ish do we reckon?
(Spoke to farmer last week and he knows I want the fields doing but obviously some of it is dependant on him coming!)

I harrowed this week before they get too hard but i have my own tractor and harrows and slave (aka my teenage son) and dont have to rely on ‘farmer time’ which is a gamble every time in my experience (and my dads a farmer so i am definitely prejudiced )

If I could, I'd have all my right hand side paddocks done tomorrow, the front left and middle left are 50% ok but the other half of each are too wet.
So, I'll have to wait, as the ones that really need doing most are the left side. <sigh>

I’m going to Harrow half of my Winter field over next few days and section it off to rest ready for setting track system up in April. Will then Harrow other half in April. I have 6ft chain Harrows and my truck, it’s one of my favourite jobs ?

OH did our summer paddock today.

We wanted to get it done so that we can start putting posts in for a track.

The winter paddock will be harrowed once ponies have been moved.

Yep did one of ours today, might do the other tomorrow but it is definitely a wetter field so I'll have to look at at it first .
We have our own gear too

Mine actually doesn't need doing this year, it's been such a dry winter! I've poo picked all the way through and it's not churned up at all.

Doing back fields tomorrow, will then move horses over end of the month and then try to get front field done.
Unfortunately we are on clay soil so it is either like a swap or bone dry.

Thanks all, going to try and crack on in the next day or two if farmer is about. Also handy to see I’m not the only one with fields at different stages of readiness. One is almost there - will it be a total disaster if it’s still too wet?
I’m surprised about the dry winter comment! It rained November, December, February and March! Admittedly we had a lovely dry 5 weeks around January which was lovely but for the most part it’s felt very wet here.
Would love to have the kit to do it myself but I suspect my little car would - rightly - object if I tried to drive it around the field with a harrow attached!

My field's getting harrowd and rolled today thanks to my lovely neighbouring farmer. It's usually done sometime in March and only once has it rained enough afterwards to make me regret it.
