I know this will go best in stable yard but need relatively quick answers.

Basically got a chance of buying a GP/VSD (not entirely sure what model as women clueless and not yet seen) harry dabs saddle supposebly in good condition for what I think is a low price. The thing is though it is in Jersey (where I am till tuesday) and so wouldn't be able to put on horse before trying. So IF i bought it I would only do so If i was convinced I could resell it for the same price so not lose money. There is nothing similar (only dressage or event) that have been listed in last month or currently listed so not sure what current retail value is! Its a wide 17.5" supposebly in good nick.

So main question is what are they like to ride in? i love albions and really don't like stubbens to give an idea to my preferences! What shape of horse do they tend to suit? eg TB or WB etc and if you were looking how much would you pay for a good nick Harry dabbs GP?

I am verging on not buying at the moment for the simple fact I can't see it on horses back but the price is tempting me if it really is as cheap as seems as could just sell on.

I have a friend who thinks the Jaguar - Harry Dabbs range has very poor quality leather so might be best to check it over.

I will have a look at it before handing over any money as I am in the island until tuesday just no idea what they are like to ride in and if it is actually as cheap as I think it is so worth the risk

if the leather is poor I will leave it though anyway

I have a Jaguar dressage saddle and I wouldnt say the leather is a poor quality although mine is buffalo leather so I cant comment on the normal. The dressage saddles make good money 2nd hand on Ebay and the trees can be tweaked by a good saddler. My friend had one altered from a Medium to a medium wide when her horse changed shape. Her other Jaguar was altered from a medium to an extra wide to fit another horse, it did have to be sent off though and a new tree was put in it by Harry Dabbs.

My jaguar xjs saddle is great and the quality of the leather is fine I bought it second hand, interesting about tweaking the trees I will bear that in mind for the future!
