Harry Hall Legend hats - is it just me?

I have one of these hats, which I have never worn, as I am pretty convinced that it makes me look like I've got 4 inches of extra head on top of my already enormous head. It is possible that I look like I have an extra 4 inches of head in every brand of hat, but I'm pretty sure I look fairly normal when wearing my current hat.
Does anyone own/have experience of said brand/model making one look like one has a coal skuttle on one's head?

I think it tends to be the cheaper hats that give that look! I bought a cheap Champion as a stopgap after my RXC1 nobly sacrificed itself for me, and it made me look like a mushroom.

It is a pretty cheap hat - hopefully that's what the issue is. I'd rather get a more expensive hat than live with the shame of having a head like a bucket

I haven’t found that problem but I have a fairly small head. Champions hats make me look like I have an extra 4 inches in all directions though! And don’t even ask about jockey skulls... they’re just a no!

This has made me laugh, I have always worn champion and my boyfriend thinks my hat looks hilarious (I do have one of the, ahem, bigger sizes). I always thought it was him being daft but maybe I’ll have another look at myself!

Update. According to my 22yr old son, the hat looks like a perfectly normal riding hat, not a bucket, and I@m "being a weirdo".

I don't think you look like a mushroom!

I loved my Harry Hall Legend, have only retired it due to age. Have gone back to Champion, they have always been a good fit, and one saved me from something far worse than concussion. I'd rather look like a mushroom in a hat I trust than spend loads on something trendy that I don't.

Agreed, all hats make you look like a mushroom head. And by you, I mean, everyone, not YOU you. I like this Harry hall one but they’re harder to find now or I’d keep getting them. Bought another online which I thought was the right one but it didn’t fit me.

Yes! I bought a (not cheap) Champion and it is enormous. As it turned out it also didn't fit, whatever the lady in the shop said, so I now have a new Harry Hall. Despite it having exactly the same safety codeas the Champion the HH looks so much smaller on my head. And I don't think yours looks like mushroom Auslander, I think you look entirely normal. If you've not had to replace a hat for a few years they have definitely all got bigger, it's not just Harry Hall.

Bring back Pateys, I say!

I have a Harry Hall that makes me look like a mushroom, use for everyday. For best I have Gatehouse.

I find the Harry hall ones much comfier, the champion one seemed to really squish me and that was going up a few sizes!

Resurrecting this thread for advice.

Santa will be bringing me a new helmet for Christmas because my current Charles Owen Pro II is 5 years old and the padding no longer holds my head snugly. I wear it for most horse activity (leading as well as riding - he's a big horse, it feels sensible)

I've only ever had Charles Owen but I'm open to ideas. The key factor is safety so I'm tempted to try a Champion Ventair after reading about MIPS. I'll be avoiding KEP. As mum & dad are paying I'm not thinking Kask prices.

I'm not into sparkle, I have a small collection of hat silks so skull cap is preferred. I don't want to look like a mushroom. Any advice or recommendations.

The CO mips hat is huge! I tried one on at Olympia last year as I needed an in date one for competing and thought it was a great idea but I couldn't live with it.
I got a Pro 2, and it's super comfy, has a liner as well so should be easier to keep clean
