I bought a carriage from Hartland 2 years ago. It soon became apparent that the shafts were in fact faulty. Since then Ive tried contacting them by contact form from their web site and phone to no avail, until that is I pretended i wanted to sell my carriage! I got an immediate response and I used the opportunity of a dialogue to let them know of this problem.
I am told that as its more than a year since purchase, I have no comeback and will need to buy a new set costing £200. I paid over £3000 for this carriage and cannot believe how ignorant of the law this company is. Not less is the poor customer service. I have decided to sell my carriage and buy from a reputable company B********n.
Steer clear from Hartland in my opinion folks!!

If the problem is a clear one and you have records of the correspondence then you could issue a small claim against them as the carriage parts should be fit for purpose for a reasonable life. Costs wont be awarded to either side and the forms are simple. Or if you paid by credit card or VISA debit you could go that route.

Would you really want to sell it with the faults, as you would have to declare them (esp if safety related, you dont mention what the fault was).

Thanks for replying all. The fault is in relation to the shafts, there is a 4.5cm difference on the either side of the u shape. This in turn has meant fitting is lopsided no matter how much I measure and try to adjust the end pieces accordingly. I know selling seems drastic but I am so upset at the poor service received thus far I refuse to spend more money with Hartland and I don't feel confident in them as a company.
So any future buyer would need to purchase a new set of shafts, but the carriage is sound.

I am really surprised they have been excellent with mine, helpful and quick.

They were helpful and quick when I phoned to buy the carriage.......Then again when I anonymously emailed pretending to sell it!
Sadly my experience has been a shambles. Wont buy or recommend to anyone.

I'm afraid I think you will struggle to get any comeback from them. You say you bought the carriage 2 years ago and a problem "quickly" became apparent; so for well over a year you have not received any response from them until the carriage is out of guarantee. They would have received a letter by recorded delivery long before this if it were me.
