Hartpury CCI*

Has anyone done the 1 star section at Hartpury just wondered wat the xc like and wat height is the SJ ? Am thinking about entering it this year if all goes to plan. (And if I can afford the entry fee!!)

V Nice first 1*. SJ for 1* is 1m10, it always seems a bit bigger at Hartpury because its held on a surface.
read the comments in eventing magazine and they are spot on.

Apart from the comments say the ground was good and it was appalling!!! Course was great for first time CCI* but I wouldn't have run on the ground.

Lovely course, really friendly atmosphere, well run. Only critism is the ground - last year it was very hard and in the organisers attempts to improve it they sucessfully made it worse by turning up stones and hard lumps of mud

.

I get roped into stewarding every year and always enjoy it, I think its a really lovely event but having not competed there myself don't rely totally on my opinion!

Have never been but nearly entered last year but was told by several pros that despite being a lovely course the ground xc was always hard. I suppose it is just an unfortunate time of year.

I did it last year and it rode beautifully. Some people thought that the first water was stiff (one stride hanging logs), but it didn't seem to cause too many problems. They rotovated the course (and the warm-up area, and a track that had a pipe-opener gallop track) and my horse was sound as a bell the next day, so I had no complaints. So much so that I'm planning on going there to do the two star this year.
