Does anybody here know if somebody has ridden all the way around mainland Britain for charity or suchlike? I know it's about 4000 miles and a lot of the coastal routes are not horse friendly, so it may not have happened, but I'm sure somebody must have done something close? I would love to know more via a website link etc. Thanks!

that would be one hell of a hack!!

though after aagruments with hubby it dosen't seam like a bad idea..."i'm off out for a hack dear..don't know how long I'll be"

I have heard of a ride which goes from the top of the Highlands in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall but not one which goes around the edge of the country.

Not heard of one. I've walked and cycled most of it in my spare time during my mid 20s-mid 30s, still got the Norfolk coast, bottom of Cornwall, whole of Wales and the East coast of Scotland to finish the job, so I'd say a mega trek and will take ages.

Not heard of anyone doing it. Nic Barker and Sarah Braithwaite are about to embark on a ride from North Wales to Exmoor.

I'm sure a route could be devised - there is already the cornwall coastal path and the pembrokeshire one and many more. I know a lot would be footpaths rather than bridleways but there would be ways round that.
I would love to do something like that but it would take a very long time - you'd have to give yourself a couple of years!
I would have thought it would be further than 4000 miles too - although I am willing to be corrected!

There was a guy that did something similar to a coastal ride round uk, think it made news because his horse is related to the queens coloured or something like that. Sorry I can't be more useful than that with details.

I've always wondered myself, think it would be a great adventure and a massive achievement for both horse and rider.
