Has anyone built their own field shelter?

I am contemplating trying to do this for a paddock I have which would be perfect if the rain could be kept off their backs. So basically all I need is a roof and something supporting it. I'm contemplating some sturdy poles and tarpaulin..anyne done anything similar?

My husband builds most of ours, they cost on average about $800 if we buy new everything.

All ours measure 8' x 16' as the boards come in 8' lengths. We use corrugated iron on the roof.

3 big posts front and back = 6, then bracing poles and joists etc.

I suppose that you could use a tarp, the problem with that is that however many joists you put up unless you have the tarp fixed REALLY taut with a slope the water will pool on top of it. Sometimes if we haven't got around to roofing a shelter we use ginseng netting over the top for shade in the summer.
