Has anyone else had this problem with gelding?

The yearling at last went in to be gelded except that it had to be postponed. It seems they think the other testi is in the abdomen & because they could not get hold of me the op was called off. He was meant to have been gelded 2mths ago, but on the morning came in with a huge hock where he had been kicked. He has been so straight forward up until now! Just wondered how common this was as I have never come across this before.

Not experienced it myself but know it's not uncommon. If you snip just one off, you might end up with a rig! My understanding is that it can sometimes take ages for the other testicle to drop and if it doesn't, your horsey-o may need more invasive surgery to locate it in the abdominal cavity (or you will still have a rig). Good luck!

A friends 7yo stally had this and had the full surgery to remove the offending 'article' he was at Newmarket for a couple of days then came home (this was about 10 yrs ago)

Was fine when he came home, just had to keep wound clean which was interesting.

Another person I know has just had the same thing with a foal she has on livery - don't know when they are operating though (yearling)
