I've just got my hunter back from 6 weeks hunting with someone else due to my broken ankle. His clip has grown back nicely and I went out to check him just before work and noticed he was a bit too hot in his 200g - a bit clammy if that makes sense. So I whipped it off and left him naked. Pretty warm in Dorset today esp. in his field which is a sun trap.

Have ummed and aahed about it all the way to work until I saw lots of other clipped horses naked and feel a bit better.

Anyone else turned out naked or am I the only mean mummy?

Mine is clipped and is out naked today he was very excited. I was unsure but it's lovely here and the field has dried out so well he hopefully wont get to muddy!!

There were one or two out on my yard today - although perhaps a little premature for the fully clipped out....

However, unclipped and those with a minimal clip were very, very happy bunnies.

I so wanted to but I thought by the time I get back up to get her in it will be quite chilly. She is fully clipped and would have loved the sun on her back! I feel really mean!

not yet as there is still a chilly wind here dispite the lovely sun, can't wait to though as I think she will be thrilled to have a roll and get really filthy!

I didn't quite manage it today since Zoomy's clip hasn't grown back very much....but she is in a no-fill sheet so ALMOST naked!

Mine have been out naked every day it has been warm enough for me to be outside in just a tee shirt. I suppose the difference is that if it gets so cold I need to put a jumper on I can just walk down to the turn out and put their rugs on.

Interestingly the day a few weeks ago when we got caught out away from home in a snow shower when I was in shirtsleeves and I'd left the horses out with no rugs on I got home expecting to find them screaming to get in and freezing cold. Nope, they were as calm as normal and didn't feel cold on ears, behind elbows or anywhere I checked. I'm a lot less panicked about rushing to put rugs on them now:)

No there was a chilly wind here in glos so fully clipped horse has a 100g on, although the ponies are naked. I decided the horse still needs a rug because I was a bit cold with a 3 layers on and metcheck says Temp 8 degress Feels 3 degrees.

I was sorely tempted too, and would have if I could have hung around to give him an hour or two naked and then popped rug back on.

But I was busy and he would have been out all day with a bit of a chilly wind. He's recently clipped out, fit and running on the light side, so I left him in a middleweight without neck.

I was very tempted too, but have to turn out at 6.30am and it was really far too cold for nakedness and a fully clipped warmblood. he's got a lightweight on though. Might see if someone will whip the rug off at lunchtime.

I was in two minds as to whether I was wrong to have turned my unclipped horse out naked today, so am very relieved to hear that the fully clipped are out without rugs

all mine were out naked yesterday including the one I freshly clipped in the morning. Havent done it today though as if the weather changes im too far away to go rug them up

Out in a rain sheet today. although not sure if he counts as clipped as was fully clipped at Christmas! :o

He prob would be ok with nothing, but tbh, he's a complete hippo, and I just can't face that amount of mud when all I get chance for is a quick hack after work :)

Nope! Still far too cold here! we are still in heavy weights!

Phew!!! I thought it was just me being mean!! My show pony is out in a sheet and cob is in a 200g - Im frozen and thinking I really should have put little ones 200g on too, but shes so itchy (fully clipped) that I feel horrid rugging her any more!!
It siad on radio 1 that its highs of 14 deg today, but it feels 4 up at the lambing shed!!

Took the rugs off my two unclipped horses! :) There is a bit of a chilly wind here but they seemed quite happy having a snooze in the sun! :) One of them is even starting to molt! Hooray!! :D

I'm such a sucker. I went home to check Bog and he was very happy tootling around his field naked. He'd had a roll and was very pleased with himself.

However, ended up putting rug back on because I don't get home till 6 by which time it will be pretty nippy and didn't want him getting cold. Its got a bit cloudy too with some rather ominous looking dark clouds.

You just can't win!!

Took my mares rugs off for 3 hours 1.30pm to 4.30pm when i got back she was freezing, coat all stary so wont do that again until its warmed up properly

my freshly clipped wimp of a warmblood was FREEZING this afternoon when I got him in -he was out in a rain sheet all day. Will be returned to his cozy medium weight until it gets a lot warmer. poor boy :(.
