lost enthusiasim lately????? i have! there is a show next weekend and i really can't be bothered to go,. the usual crowd will be there, bitching and moaning about the judges...bitching and whining about other competitors..........one was shouting her mouth off at the last show as according to her she was beaten by a load of sh!t......it never usually bothers me but this attitude is beginning to peeve me off......my ponio is NOT a show stopper, but we have had some good results locally, but lately i have begun to dread rather than enjoy going out and competing?? just wondered if it's the miserable time of year and others feel the same......and as for that old wench calling other people's horses sh!t.....disgusting behaviour....but i still beat her!!

AW hun. we all get a bit stale at times, but it seems you are listening too much to what others are saying than focusing on why you are there in the first place.
Anyone who says they have been beat by a load of sh*t, is really just trying to hide her inadequacies and low confidence. Please, she is just trying to save face? I think so, anyway. If they were that sh*t but still managed to beat her, then what does that make her!.

I think the problem is, is that you are focusing on the win or the perfect performance only. You will enevitebly use motivation if that is the case. It is a proven sports psychological scientific fact.

You need to set yourself a few goals.
Identify a few things that you really want to achieve for yourself. They must be realistic.

Go out and enjoy yourself and your horse's achievement on the day and learn to identify things that can or need to be worked on for the next, if any.

best of luck
Dawn

We go to many different shows to compete, especially at this time of year. We decide where we are going & what classes we want to enter & what we want to try & achieve. We rarely listen to what anyone else is doing or saying & to be honest don't really care. As long as our lad goes well & we enjoy ourselves then that's it.

Don't worry about what others do or think...it doesn't matter, don't get involved. Just go where you want to go, enter your classes & enjoy yourself.....in a nutshell...Stuff Them!

I quite like the nasty lot you always get at events. It gives me the aim of beating them and makes it SOO much better if I do! Who cares what they say, if they ever say your horse is a piece of whatever then simply say something really clever back (not sure what, you'd need to think about it!).

Yes, Im also losing enthusiasm. Think its down to the weather and not doing much schooling, and the fact our trainer is on hols. But, lovely words of encouragement from everyone. Im competing on Sunday - have you seen the forecast !!!

I know how you feel, when I was at our old yard there was so much bitchiness and I always tried to ride when no-one else was around. After a while I looked at myself and what I was doing and I just had to laugh - I was bending to their pressure and ruining my time there because of them?!. Like others have said, set goals for yourself not them.

And imagine what it would be like to not have a pony and not be able to go to shows at all which are meant to be fun!
