Has anyone elses livery gone up?

Its not just horses though, its the general cost of living thats gone up, and wages not so much.

Thankfully my livery has stayed the same and my hay didn't go up by much. I've noticed a difference the past couple of years as well, in the price of feed.

Yes but only because our non horsey YO decided to spend lots on a new school (which is unusable because the base is sharp sand and a horse would pull a tendon just looking at it). Thankfully we have another decent school as well!
 
Why shouldn't it? YO have to make a living too, why should they eat into their money to keep their liveries costs the same. Mine hasn't but I'm on grass livery and only been there a few months. Previous yard (part) went up whilst I was there, but not as much as yos hay bill I bet!
 
Ours is going up in April from £23 a week to £25 which is still very good value! I would pay £30 a week if necessary as I love it! I'm not surprised it is going up as they have to make a living!

From £25 a week for a field, a stable and use of an outdoor school to £26.50 and now have to pay a £1 an hour to use the school.
Parking for trailers used to be free and now £15 a month!
Hay (home grown) has gone from £25 a large bale to £35 and large haylege has gone up the same but the bales have got smaller by about 4 slices!! Straw has gone from £20 for a large bale to £30 a bale...no new investment in machinery before people jump up shouting "well you do it cheaper!!"
Charges for services has also gone up by 50p which again doesn't sound allot but it adds up when you look at it over a month.

My livery has gone from £190 a month (DIY) to £256 for the same service...That's £792 a year more than i was paying this time last year and I've had to take a pay cut and a pay freeze for 2 years with my job!!

Oohhh thats a bit steep!!!!!!!! My livery is the same but the yard up the road has gone up £5 per week
 
Yeah, just gone up £2pw to £22 for a stable and turnout with insufficient grass, crap fencing (non-existant fencing at the moment) and no facilities. Apparently the increase is to cover the replacement of the fencing (what happened to daily maintenance making things last longer???), replace the electrics which are lethal, and we are supposed to be getting an outdoor which will never pay for itself and most of us are retired or happy hackers and not interested in a school. The cowboy who has just put up the new stables is apparently going to build it so I doubt it will remain useable for very long if his standard of workmanship is anything to go by. Bet the YO hasn't realised you need to sort out the surface at least weekly either.
 
Okay, so ...

The amount I pay for yard insurance has gone up.
The amount I pay in rates has gone up.
The amount it costs me to maintain the fields (diesel, running costs of tractor, cost of fencing materials, cost of employing someone to help OH do the work) has gone up.
The amount it costs me to make and bale our fab quality haylage has gone up.
The cost of electricity has gone up.
The cost of water (we are rated) has gone up, and nobody seems to worry about leaving taps running other than me.
Last year i spent several thousand pounds upgrading the arena surface, for everyone's benefit.

My "profit" has gone down, but all my personal expenses (house, car, food, insurance, having 2 kids etc etc) have gone up.

It is hardly surprising therefore that the amount I charge my liveries has also gone up :rolleyes:
