Just wondering because a few years ago I had the sweetest mare on loan.

She was an ex racer and straight off the track, but you would have never known it, she was so calm and tried so had to please. But for one reason or another she ended up going back to her owner.

I have eard since that she had started rearing and that no one could ride her.

Anyway I am desperate to know what is going on with her and if she OK.

Has anyone managed to do this and if so how?

I did and wished I hadnt. I sold a mare who didnt grow quite big enough for me. She was also a horse that needed working regularly, but wasnt nasty in any way. Just an energetic TB who liked work. Even if she had been big enough I didnt have the time to ride every day.

I had her from a yearling and ended up having her produced as an intermediate SRT. She did really well and qualified for the RIHS, BSPS, won at the Royal London etc etc. Anyway when she was about 8 I came to the conclusion that she would be better off being sold than continuing to be produced and looked for a home that might want to do other things with her as well as show her.

I found a lovely lady who bought her and that was that. About 2 years later I saw an advert for her and just dropped an email saying sorry to hear you are selling her, please give her a pat from me.

The owner emailed back to say she had rescued the mare. Apparently the person I sold to had financial problems and sold her bargain basement to a total novice who completely wrecked her. She was found tied up in a stable, looking like a hat rack, weaving and shook if anyone tried to get on her.

It was awful. To cut a long story short, in the end she went back to her original breeder as a broodmare which was the best solution for everyone so there was a happy ending, but poor mare I cannot begin to imagine how she went from a county show horse to rescue case in such a short space of time.

Hope you manage to track your boy down and that there is a happy ending to yours too

Desperately sad, but I am so thankful to the lady who rescued her.

I have often wondered this!! I had a horse on loan about... oh..... 6 yrs ago. He was a fab Arab, about 14.3, but was a dope on a rope!! He was rose grey and called Shah! I loved him, and he could jump for england!! He'd be about 10years old now?
His owner feek pregnant and then they decided to move to France. She gave me first refusual (bargain price!!) but I didn't have the money so had to let go!!
I often wonder how he is doing etc, and put an ad once on Stable Talk, but nothing. All I know is the lady that bought him wanted him to help "calm" her Arab yearling down, which I thought wasa total waste as he could have done so well as an RC horse!

Is that pickles??? She was lovely- I have an ex racer now. He has been off the track 7 weeks! Can you not contact her old owner??? Maybe advertise for info??

Yeah its Pickles, I was told about 2 years ago that she had been sent to lake district and no one could touch her because she was to violent!!!! That horse was like a little puppy, not a a bad bone in her body.

I have tried getting hold of the girl but she has done a runner, no one knows where she is!?!

I recently found the first pony I had on loan. He was sold almost 5 years ago. I'd put adverts up in my tack shop and asked my instructor/farrier to keep an eye out for him. A few weeks ago montyandzoom posted photos of her friend doing xc on him! I visited him and I'm so happy he's found such a lovely home with an owner who doesn't mind me visiting and riding him (despite the fact he is 12.2 and I am 5ft 5 and a half!)
