Has anyone ever used a horse psychologist/behaviourist?

With any success?

My mare is coming on beautifully & we seem to have come to an agreement about things but she occasionally does things that make me think she is a bit bonkers.

Yesterday I turned my other horse out before her, (a regular occurrence) this seemed to trigger some sort of stress reaction & she then proceeded to squeal and violently bronc & kick the wall. She wasn't being aggressive or stroppy, she was geniunely stressed out. she was sweating & pooing, when I went over to her she was affectionate but genuinely worried. This is a new symptom, but an example of how erratic she can be.

I have put it down to being just 'her', but I sort of feel I might be missing something. She has been checked by a vet (Short of having a CAT scan), so I wondered if it was worth getting someone a bit 'alternative' in.

I am cynical about it all tbh but I do feel like there is a piece of the jigsaw I cannot get to. Anyone had any good experiences?

I have been accused of being nuts but I got an animal communicator to talk to my horse to try and find out why he was so grumpy on the ground. She was amazing! She has also been to quite alot of other people and helped them too. I would say that it would be quite easy to be ripped off so alway use someone who has been recommended.

I had a Monty Roberts Associate to help me deal with my horse's groundwork when she didn't understand about being caught or led when we first bought her. Might be worth a try

I had Heather Simpson to my horse. Some of her advice was great, but some wasn't and ended up making my problems worse. And, she wasn't interested in coming back to try to sort out the mess. I think go by recommendation. Some RA's are a LOT better than others as well.

I've had vets, chiropractor, physiotherapist and dentist and I can't find out why my horse seems posessed. I am currently going down the animal communicator route. God knows if it will get us anywhere but the Animal Health Trust would cost more than the mare did, and then they might just find her issues are all in her head. Might as well give it a go - £40 or so is a lot less to waste than a few thousand! Glad to hear your mare's coming on, every time I think I'm getting somewhere with mine she has another unexpected episode when you'd swear she'd just forgotten she's broken in!

Have seen one in action and was suitably impressed enough to book her to come and talk to my grumpy lad. I actually asked a question to the horse via this lady (who had never met me before) regarding the last person who rode her(which just happened to be my daughter) the lady described my daughter exactly ,even down to her personality and the way she rode!! Admittedly Iwas a little sceptical ,but after that question ,got to be something in it?!

have a google on "horse listeners" .. UK pages... there are a few that you may want to consider... have pm'd with my experience... btw the one I was referring to was suggested by my then farrier.. as another of his clients had had a lot of success with her...
