had any trouble getting time off for stay away shows like new year xmas eve etc etc?

Im having hell trying to get the time off for New Year show and the more i talk about it the more irate i get!!! grr

my holiday is saved every year so i can do stay away shows while everyone else has their two week holidays raaaaah!

No but I am very lucky cos my boss is great and will do her best to let me have the time off.

i have NEVER had this problem before, the problem now is that i work for a massive worldwide firm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work for a huge international company too but really think it depends what department you work in. Ours also shuts down completely in the UK over Christmas and New Year which is great.

i am the same. I work in oil and coal sales so obviously busy in winter. We cant any holidays what so ever after October

In the office I work in (property) they all think that just plain "horse riding" is what I do, as a hobby, for fun (which is true to an extent!)

- When I explained that I "do what Zara Phillips does" though at a lower level as clearly im not a pro (why would I be in an office otherwise!?!?!) it changed their tune marginally, I dont talk about it much and I do now get odd "so hows the riding going?" I make sure I book it as hols and dont tell them what im doing or where im going.

After all why should your time off - which youve earn and saved be put down upon by others who choose to spend their time abroad instead?
