We got one on these at Christmas (hubbys present to me!) and went for the bigger one at over £300 as we wanted the extra flow. It runs on LPG and water so no electricity required and seemed fab. That is, until the first frosty night!!
It states in the instructions it needs to be drained and it has a drain plug for you to remove as well as saying to remove the inlet hose - no problem they are all snap fittings - so we took off ALL the hoses to be sure. The temp went down to about -3 deg C.
Next day we went to use it, waited until the afternoon when the hosepipe outside had defrosted and the thing spurted water all over the place, buggered, basically.
We sent it back and Ecotemp now say because its frost damage we are liable and would need to buy another!! Not likely, despite carrying out their instructions to the letter (and more) this unit would appear not fit for purpose.
Has anyone else had any experience of these in winter?
Oh, a footnote, when my OH called the technical dept to speak about the problem they told him he was the second person that morning! And, it's funny, but that was the first night below 0deg C that we have had this winter.......
Any feedback welcome!
