Has anyone had experience with ligament or tendon strains of any sort?

Been checking out the internet and worrying myself stupid but the swelling on my horses hind leg points to 1 of the following:
Suspensory,
Superfical flexor tendon,
palmer anullar ligament(sp)

She is not lame but has a swelling just above her fetlock with goes all the way round from just behind the cannon bone, round the back of the leg to the inside. If you look at her from the side it sticks out.

I am worried now.

I have only seen 'typical' tendon and ligament swelling juts below the knee- not where this one is- top of fetlock.

Will get vet to see her tommorow but any ideas in the meantime?

Thanks

If she is not lame don't wory too much. Obviously be careful until the vet see's her but dont panic! My horses legs swelled up a few weeks ago and I looked on the net - I was ready to call the hunt after looking on the net and he turned out to be fine!

My horse is just going back into walk work following a tendon injury (deep digital flexor) on hind leg. Internet stories will only scare you and it is best to try not to worry until been to the vets. The DDFT is more serious than tthan the superficial and my boy had hardly any swelling at all so they are all different. When you have had your diagnosis, let us know how you get on but until then try to remain positive and not to worry (easier said than done I know). Good luck

my horse's swollen annular ligament ran from one side of the fetlock, round the back to the other side and was rock solid to feel.

this was his left hind, the worst one:

he was lame from may to august last year and getting worse, so had surgery on both back legs, came back to hacking gradually until march this year when he went lame again - he's now been on field rest for 5 months but is still mildly lame - think he is now retired for good. annular ligaments are not good news. definitely get it checked by your vet.

Thanks for the picture, it does look similar to that but not as large. She isn't lame at all however so hopefully I have caught it in time. The vet is coming out to see her today.

i hope for your sake it's not as large - it's completely knackered my horse forever, despite surgery and now 18months out of work. i hope it's not the same thing for your horse.
