And if so, what did you make and was it hard/easy?
Are they portable or fixed, and if fixed how have you secured them?
What heights have you made?

Just getting ideas about keeping Meg happy over the coming months, and as we have no XC near here now, thinking of being creative instead.
Might make a few SJ 'somethings' too, but XC is what she adores most! Iam hoping to get the heights about 2'9/3ft - 3ft3''. I just want to have some fun!!
Thankyou.

Ooh this is a good post, I hope someone replies!! I have really wanted to know the answer to this question. My boyfriend tells me that car mechanics/garages etc will give away old tyres for free because otherwise they have to pay for their disposal, so that could be quite useful. I'm not very creative or DIY handy though so can't really help on how to build them!!

I made some nice brush fences/fillers out of some pallets; just cut the to the height you want. Put a strip of wood on each end to stand it up, fill the bottom in, and fill it up with twigs, and cut them to height :)

Also, tyres are usually given away free at garages etc, nice and easy :)

Yep, we make our own xc jumps :)

We did it on a big scale though, we made a water jump into and out of the river than runs through field, a ditch and with the topsoil made a bank :)

We have made skinnies, which are triangles (like a V ) which are portable and can be used in various ways :)
Half pallets are good, also make good fillers for under fences :)

Tyres, especially small tyres which can be "threaded" over a jumping pole.

We have made walls which are basically all wooden planks, also use barrels as skinnies :)

We did buy a portable corner though, as too much work is needed for them and they have to be very very strong, so took the safe option and bought one :)

If you can gather branches and brush you can make a brush fence, or a bullfinch if being very ambitious!

If you can make a ditch somewhere in a field it would be brill, as there is soo many things you can do with a ditch! :D

I made a 3 bar gate out of some odd fence and rail posts. Portable, putting 2 posts in the ground wherever I wanted it and then rested the gate against them.
