... or similar? I have sold mine recently and just waiting for the cheque to clear.

But I'm wondering how people package them and whether they are too big/heavy for Royal Mail? I have been looking everywhere for a box but can't find one big enough. Has anyone got any ideas/experience?!

I'd really appreciate any help from you wise folk!!

Thanks

Yes send it via parcel force 48 £11.99 (do at post office) get there in 2 days and just use any old box but wrap it well as im not sure how careful they are

Brill service and V cheap!

I have bought and sold a couple on e-bay. When I have posted mine out, I like to use bubble wrap, especially round the cantle to avoid any bangs or knocks then I have put them upside down in a snug box so it doesn't rattle around with the saddle flaps uppermost.
I have sent them both via a carrier and parcel post.

If you can't find a box then the only solution will be to go to a stationers and buy on (normally for under £2).

When I have bought saddles, I have had them wrapped in towels and even a bed sheet! The towels must've added to the weight though and the sheet did not offer much protection.

I get my large parcels picked up by parcel2go (cheaper too) but i think most people use Pacelforce at the post office. Have you got a feed merchant near you? Or a local shop? I get my large boxes from these and then buble wrap and pack round with newspaper. Good luck

I've sold a few and sent wrapped in bubble & in a big box. I've sent them Parcel 48 but I have found that they take up to 4 days to get there - and that wasn't including a weekend, bank holiday etc. I don't thing any of them got there within 48 hours.

Ah, thanks both. I have lots of bubble wrap ready to go - it'll be bubble wrapped to the max!

I went to the post office but the boxes they sell I don't think are going to be big enough. I guess I could always get 2 and stick them together?!

I've sold one and sent it Standard Parcels with Royal Mail....worse thing I ever did

It was returned to me after a week as 'address unknown' - the reason the address was unknown was because the box had been left out in the wet, and had disintegrated so much that the saddle was clearly visible.

I had to do some major cleaning before I could repackage and send it again, and I had to pay the same fee again, too. Awful service, would never use them again

go and get a telly box from comet or large box from supermarket they will let you have one I had to realy tuck the flaps under themselves and put plenty of wrap on the back of the saddle.

I have sold saddles in the past and I sent them by Royal Mail, but nowadays I would use a courier pickup, as I have found it cheaper, and they collect.

This is a useful link that brings up lots of different price options and you pay online, book the pickup time and date, and print off any documentation and labels you might need:

Most courier companies require the item to be packed in a box rather than bubblewrap and plastic bags.

If you use Freecycle, this can be a useful place to post a "wanted" ad for a big box!
