If so did you get what the saddle was roughly worth.
My Albion saddle is worth about £400 if i sold it privately so am willing to take £300 at the least on part exchange.
I asked my saddler how much she would take for part exchange and was told it would depend on what saddle i wanted to buy, ie wintec not as much but another Albion i would get more for it.
Now this doesnt seem fair to me, if i buy a cheaper saddle i will get less than my saddle is worth?
But surely she isnt going to give me more than my saddle is worth, so either way i lose out on a cheaper saddle.

Does this sound unfair

Sounds about right to me, it is all to do with profit margins. For instance if you buy a Wintec at say £280 they are not going to give you the saddle and then give you £20 cash as well in exchange for your saddle.
If you spend £1000 on a new Albion then the profit is there to allow you more part exchange value on your old saddle.
Hope that makes sense!

I purchased a second hand saddle for £550 and I was replacing my john whittaker jumping saddle. The saddle fitter offered me a part exchange for £350 so I told him to whistle, put it on ebay and got £850 for it!!
Mrs_Whiskabibble is right (as above case shows as they woudln't of paid me for my saddle and given me the other basically free) and if you think you can get good money for it and can be bothered with the hassle of selling it privately then do that but I would get a definate figure off the saddle person first so you can make an informed decision
