has anyone seen anything like this before, any words of wisdom!

Thanks

I had a horse a few years ago that managed to do something similar in a sheep netting fence, it was alot worse than yours though, it almost looked like somebody had taken an ice cream scoop and taken off a bit chuck of his coronet band and hoof.
Vet was quite concerned, went off to Newmarket and came back on box rest and bandaged on antib's.
After the bandages were removed the proud skin started appearing like your has and we were given some lotion (was called white lotion - sure it should have had a more technical name!) which we had to apply twice daily, it did reduce and shrivel up the proud flesh and eventually it all dried out and grew down the hoof.
The Farrier rasped the majority of the "bump" off as it grew down and after it grew out you could only ever see a slight band where it had been.
Has the vet seen it after a week?

The shire on our yard over reached last year & did something similar, made an absolute mess of it. Healed superbly though it did take a while.
