Has anyone successfully had planning for mobile home?

I'm looking at this and have been told by planning consults and council that it's impossible. You to have to prove that you need to be there, sadly security reasons are not enough.

That's kind of what I was up against.
However,a couple of local places (and I sadly don't know who owns them) have managed to get permission for things like 9 months use, or emergency use, or even holiday accommodation.

Try looking on line for the planning applications for those that you know about to see how they've done it/what they've got. They may have permission for a mobile home but I'd hazard a guess there are many restrictions on its use and there's no permission to live there.

Unfortunately, the chances are incredibly slim for anything other than real agricultural need - otherwise we'd all be living with our horses.

Perhaps get the largest touring caravan you can find.The biggest are 28/30 ft x 8ft wide(Hobby/Tabbert ect).Smallest static is 28ftx10ft so not a huge difference and then it is truly mobile.You could put forward a case as emergency accomadation for poorly horses.Animal husbandery is another good way in.Build a foaling box or start breeding chickens or something.What are your neighbours like?.Planning officers aren't pro active in looking for caravans ect,somebody would need to complain.EVERYONE i know with their own land/horses has a caravan of some sort!

Without planning, You can put in a mobile unit. Caravan or single mobile home with wheels attached. If the latter, it must not have sides filled in from base to ground.
You can live in it for up to 30 days in any one year, it must NOT be connected to any mains services, so no water, elec etc.

This is for agricultural land, and the regulation is really for farmers with livestock but the above applies to any land.
My neighbours have a mobile unit and stay on site st their yard for at least 3 weeks in school summer hols, plus a few days at Easter and autumn.
Our local council are pretty hot on all this, even down to refusing field shelters etc and are hopping mad that my neighbour works to the letter of the law....

My neighbours are not likely to complain, one is a farmer who has dealt with my exciting applications for arena and so on. Other side is a taxi/ mini bus company who are also looking for ways to get more buildings plus some kind of accommodation on site. Would rather have proper permission than a totally mobile unit as believe it needs to be moved every so many weeks or is considered no longer mobile.
AA, what is the certificate of lawfulness please?

A certificate of lawful use is an irrelevance. It is a way for the council to charge you money to tell you that you have the right to do something you already have the right to do . If you have had a permanent structure on your land for over 4 years without deception , or 12 for non permanent ,then you have an established right to that use and can ,for a fee apply for a certificate. It is better to not apply for the certificate which may be rejected. The best course is to continue the established use and let the council pay the costs of any action against that use.
