It was great while he was tiny and just sitting on however when he started actually riding he really struggled with his steering as just wanted to hold the handle at the front.
Have to agree friends son never looked right in his safari one.
Have you thought about a normal 14 inch one are afew on ebay for good prices ( been having mad ebay session tonight as hubbie in bed poorly!)
Im sure Thorogoods used to do two versions of this, one was a 12" and the other was slightly bigger, as Im sure the little one was called a safari "cub".. there are wintec kids saddles, also what about a old school half panelled pony saddle? Someone local may have one kicking around their tackroom, they sit better on the ponies and kids in turn sit better in them.
I understand what you mean about your son not sitting right in it, they are real basic baby saddles. IMO they also wobble alot on a wider pony!
Sorry for waffle! The shires saddles are quite good too, but I have no kid/teaching experience of that particular one.
we have a fat shettie, so need an xx wide, and as anyone knows, they're like gold dust, and atm we just don't have hundreds to spend on having one made to measure. my son also wants to do a few shows and thinks that his cub saddle is for babies...
i like the wintec one, and have been watching the first one you linked to for a few days now, but it won't be wide enough.
I actually had a half panel one, but it was 16" narrow fitting
. I also had an xx wide maxam 15", and I went and sold it (doh!).
I looked at a shires one at Melton sales the other week (but it was a medium fit) and they seemed good quality. I just want to ensure the kids will be comfy on it and it'll sit well on ponio.
