Has anyone turned out 24/7 for summer yet?

Yup, ours went out 24/7 from beginning of April, rug-less too. They seem happier for it, less mucking out means more time time riding, so happy all round! :)

Yes I did 2 weeks ago and we had snow yesterday. But I have a respiratory problem and being tested for late on set asthma so throught I would chuck them out with a hay bale so that I wasnt mucking out.
Little piggies are loving the hay

mine lives out 24/7 come rain, wind or shine :) (or -16 and snow as we;ve had this winter )
rug up and i'm sure they'll be fine :) at the mo my giirl has 300gm full neck over night and 100gm no neck during day - we're still getting frosts up here and a bit of snow last night  and she has a full summer coat :)
and just to rpvoe you don't need stables for a good coat etc ;)
this was on sat :)

We are turning out 24/7 end of may, we are waiting for the night paddocks to be harrowed, so until then they are still coming in at night, which i dont mind as it has been freezing here at night lately!!!!

I left mine out for the first time a couple of weeks ago, then the weather changed and they are back in again. I must admit though mine dont go out 24/7 in the summer, they come in about every 3 or 4 days for one night so they can have a good sleep. They get really cranky and difficult to handle otherwise. My boys love thier stables, they are normally flat out fast asleep by 8pm when they are in.

I have being trying to keep them out, but it is so cold and now even raining again :(

I managed to leave them out for one night and I think they were traumatised by it  they don't want to stay out on the lovely summer grass, they keep coming back to the gate waiting to come in again :(

It's all very boring, they are normally out overnight by April.

Mine are still at top of the field by the time they are suppose to be in unlike winter where they are waiting at the gate just the TB that can't wait to get in

I have turned mine out 24/7 but do put rugs on at night, we had frost last night, I thnk I do it for my benefit they dont seem to care.

Yeeeah about 3 or 4 weeks ago now :) Still get fed and some stil rugged though as still chilly at night.

Am I the only person who has gone onto less turnout since the weather got better?! Grass has shot up and pony is as fat as a pig - I'm convinced 24hr turnout would make him burst!!

Nope, our laminitic pony is only out for an hour or two a day with a muzzle on, plus our cobs are in a lotmore but the rest of the crew are out 24/7 :)

yeh mine have been out since end of april too - tried to put rugs on them but they were sweating like mad haha my 2 are wierd when the two other horses at the yard are wearing 12oz rugs haha xx

we turned out naked the week after Easter. they're fine and fat and happy. I caught Tom playing dead horse in the sunshine on Sunday!! It was frosty here this morning, but Ron's summer coat is the same thickness (just shorter hairs) as his winter coat (but he was hunter clipped) and Tom wasn't clipped so they're fine.

Yes, they went out a week after the first bank holiday weekend.

You could if you wanted (those on full livery) bring in on a night still if needed, but the YO wouldnt be mucking out, would be down to you.

They seem much happier out, although they do still love to come in for their grub :)

They don't go out becuase its warmer, thats makes no difference, its purely down to the grazing.

Our 30+ horses at the yard have been living out full time for the past 5 weeks. Some with rugs at night, some without.

Yep, all mine have been living out 24/7 for a few weeks now.
Only exception is Roger comes in if it rains heavy overnight cos he thinks he will melt in the rain !!

Yup my little TB has been out since mid-April, sooooo much easier without any mucking out :D He still gets rugged as needed because he is a sensitive flower, and it has been cold at night :p

Mine are full turn out but rugs are back on arthritic pony (over her sweet itch rug, poor girl) and LW on my youngster as she looked a bit tucked up. I was working in Deal, Kent today. Hail before lunch, shorts and t shirt weather about lunch time. And now Bloody freezing. Weather is nuts
