Has anyone used a public weighbridge?

I would like to weigh my lorry to find out how many horses i can take without being over the limit - i am fairly certain I can only take 2 but would like to know. Do you just turn up at a public weighbridge and is it free??

Some you can just drive in, others you need to book, so check your local one first. There is a charge.

Some only charge if you want a printout. You do need to wiegh the axles separately as well as the overall weight.
