Has anyone used antibiotics for persistent hind gut ulcers?

As the title. I know antibiotics are used for persistent gastric ulcers but I want to know if anyone has had success with them for hind gut ulcers. My horse responds to Ranitidine but the symptoms return every time I stop. He has scoped clear twice and doesn't have gastric ulcers.

You need Sulcrafate from Abler. Thunderbrooks do a supplement called gut restore which has helped my horse.

He had already had Sucralfate and millions of supplements such as gut restore, liquid gold, Equishure, Succeed, Protexin gut restore & acid ease, yea sacc and brewers yeast, has been to holistic vet Donna Blinman etc etc etc.

Is there a reason not to keep him on ranitidine? Mine is on 4 a day long term. Keeps him happy.
4 is the minimum I can get away with.

He is on 30 300mg a day. The minimum is 20 a day. If I could get away with 4 a day I would be ecstatic. I am worried about the long term effects of such a high dose but he is dreadful if I take him off.

Could Donna Blinman not sort this out? I ask because I have an appointment with her next month for an ongoing gut/hind gut issue.

Mine has been on soaked oats and agrobs mash plus succeed, she had a clear succeed test last week - finally!

He had 3 months treatment with Donna but unfortunately I didn't see any improvement until I used Ranitidine.

Just a thought....I have a horse whose allergy problems seem to be related to moulds/yeasts.....we are currently trying to confirm this.

He has massively improved after stopping ALL yeasts in his diet......I am now feeding live yoghurt to repopulate his gut/crowd out a suspected yeast overgrowth.

You have been using a lot of yeast containing products, which in theory should help your horse, but there are recorded instances of products such as protexin making the occasional horse worse.

Thanks - I might try cutting these out. They don't seem to be helping much anyway.
