Did you see any improvement in your horse?

How do you find out if your horse suffers from too much sand in his/her stomach?

Thank you

hi , we are on very sandy soil with very slow growing grass, we use clearout every 3 mths , feed addlib fiber (straw and hay mix ) they also have linseed meal in their hard feed to help collect and push sand through inseed turns to a jelly which helps pick up the sand particles that have been eaten and heps to push them through the intestines), they are also fed water based feeds ie fast fiber, sugar beet, lucie nuts etc . we also check how much sand if any has been injested every week by putting dung from each pony into a bag or jam jar adding water , giving the mixture a good mix /shake then leaving to settle, any sand in the dung will then be at the bottom of the bag or jam jar with the dung floating on the top, depending on how much sand we either treat them with clearout if lots of sand and or add more fiber/linseed meal.have found that the clearout seems to work better due to having the extra herbs inc to help sooth the intestines, used to use pure psyllium husks but found the clearout gave better results and was more gentle on them . also feed a pro and pre biotic after using the above . hope this helps.
