Has anyone used one of these training aids?

EEEK.

How experienced are you?

Reading down the page......"This product does not come with instructions but it is incredibly easy to use".

Be careful, a lot of harm can be done in a very short time with gadgets like these, get someone who knows what they are doing to help for the first few times.

tis very cheap, check quality of clips and stitching before putting under stress of a potentially lethal broncing pony!

Step - yank, step - yank.

Sorry, I wouldn't put that anywhere near a horse of mine :(

That some horses tolerate this sort of contraption says an awful lot for them, some of mine would point blank refuse to go forwards, and some would tie themselves in knots to avoid it, a few of the more forgiving souls would tuck their chins in and say "OK, if that's what you want ..."

I wouldn't use a pessoa either, but many people swear by them, it is a personal thing.

Instructor has advised on lunging in a Pessoa or EquiAmi a couple of times a week and is getting us set up... I just wondered how this compared, that's all.

Yikes  It even states you can ride with it on :(
I personally wouldn't use a pessoa. Go with what your instructor suggests but remain open minded as to whether you are able to reach whatever your goal is without the need of such aids even if it takes longer to get there.

There's a reason why the Pessoa is more expensive!! Buy the best kit you can afford and learn how to use it correctly would be my advise.

I use a pessoa at work and used and fitted correctly can be used bits of kit. But this is not the same as a pessoa or a even a pessoa copy for a start its set unlike a pessoa. that would just scrunch the horse into a ball not help relax and work the horse over the back. Try and find a proper one even if its a second hand one off ebay.

I use a pessoa and find it a very useful piece of kit, really don't like the look of this one though and would never in a million years ride in it!

I wouldn't use that or a Pessoa but for the life of me I am struggling to see much functional difference between that gadget and a Pessoa. All I can see is a couple of "hold the back end of the device up" straps in a different place. There doesn't look to be any real difference in the effect on the mouth.

Am I not spotting something in the photos I'm looking at?

OP there are Pessoa copies on ebay at under £30.

Well, it's all the same family of "tie the horse's mouth to it's arse and let it yank itself in the mouth every time it moves" style of aplliance really, isn't it?

a girl at my yard tried it once as her pessoa died and it kept rising up the bum and falling to the inside it was a death trap, though she use it with a roller and it then worked quite well but she said she will see if she can get her pessoa fixed as it really didn't do much for the horse at all

Not sure on pessoas as I've never used one, or seen one being used. However you could try a bungee? Very inexpensive and forgiving piece of kit. I lunge my little guy in it once a week. Can also be worn while riding, though I've never used it for such. Works a treat at ten quid, and is very easy to fit :)
