Done well it is a great way to improve the insulation and look of the home. I would recommend Larch weatherboard (not just because we mill it and sell it ,but because its long lasting and looks great) onto a membrane layer over insulation and battens. Not hard to do but tha major issue is that because the windows will now be sunk back into the wall ,you need to take care that water cannot get in behind the wood. The same applies to the roof line. As with all mobile homes ,expect constant invasion threats from the local rat population. The extra layer may make things easier for them .
Thankyou very much.
We don't have too many little rat friends we do have tree rats though . The cladding would mainly be for improving the look of it to blend in with the stables .
I like cedar cladding as it needs little maintenance and fades to a lovely colour. It can be more pricey however. We have timber clad holiday homes at the park where I work. Anything that is varnished/stained will need keeping on top of as it will peel in the sun. Make sure the knots are treated on whatever you have so they don't leak sap.
