Had there horse diagnosed with head trauma and what symptoms were shown, and what lasting effects is there.

My horse fractured his skull, does this count as head trauma?
Initially, he had a superficial wound over his eye, just took the hair off really but he did have bloody tears and nose. He had time off and bute for a few days and then I carried on riding him. About 10 days later, his whole head swelled up and he looked awful.
It took 10 weeks from injury to diagnosis and he was on 2 sachets of Rimadyl a day (not cheap!). A trip to Leahusrt was necessary for the final diagnosis of 2 fractures to eye orbit.
Lasting effects? None. He also has no exemptions on his insurance (taken off 2 years after claim).
