Has my horse just had enough?

My poor mare has been through a lot in recent years. Firstly a painful tooth that went unnoticed by more than one dentist over approx 7 years (sorted in the last year). She went to a loan home two years ago and came back as a bag of bones. She was diagnosed with Cushings and Laminitis last year.

No Lami since and Cushings under control. Schooling at home going great. However, she has completely lost her confidence hacking and going out in the trailer. I have kept everything nice and kept the pressure off but not seeing much improvement. Not sure what I should do. Have thought of trying a supplement calmer or should I just take the hint that she's had enough and would just like a quiet life in her field? She is only 16.

Any thoughts appreciated

It would be worth a try I'd say. I swear by my calmer!!! I use topspec and it's definately taken the edge off. She used to be REALLY jumpy... I was always wondering what would happen next. she still has the odd moment, but she doesn't completely over-react like she used to :) Everything I do with her is so much more enjoyable since putting her on the supp. And she still performs well on it too.

I wouldnt write her off as a field pet just yet certainly.
Do you hack alone? Maybe if she's happy to school you could school her in a field- still fairly small and enclosed then work up to schooling in larger areas of field until you can walk her right the edge thus starting small hacks again?
Obviously this depends on your facilities but it worked with a horse on my yard who wouldnt hack as we had various size fields!
