Just got my re-newal fron NFU . when i first took out the policy in 2009 it was £366 a year, now it is £585 ! . No point in doing price comparisons if it has gone up for everyone, does it make a difference if they are microchipped, as it just says freezemarked on my policy which she isn't , but is chipped ?

If you do a search on Horse Insurance you will find numerous posts regarding the massive increases that NFU have implemented. As a result I & numerous other clients have moved to different companies where the premiums are considerably lower.....I'm talking about reputable companies not E&L & their sister companies.. Try quotes from KBIS & SEIB to name but two, you should save a considerable amount. :)

Its always worth shopping around. The cost of insuracne depends on a lot of things - not least the age of the horse. But if you don't compare you can't get it cheaper!

Yes! NFU is pricey but I did a bit of comparison and it was no cheaper. does make you wonder why you bother. I know it's for those mega moments when vet bills get big but my friend doesn't insure and has saved cash instead and is quids in compared to what she would have paid in insurance.

Mine only went up by £30 this year on renewal.

Now very glad I have it as am now faced with my pony needing surgery for a fractured splint bone. Rang NFU today to advise them that I'll need to claim, very helpful and they've said they will send all paperwork direct to my vets and settle directly with them too, i just need t pay the excess.

Brings home why we have it! Expecting the bill, even if straightforoward, to be in the region of £3k.

I've paid just over £2k in premiums so far (had her 4 years)- so will already be getting my moneys worth!!

Im with NFU and have had my horse for just over a year.

In that time she had two serious accidents. One cost just over £1500.00 and the other just over £3000.00.

Both were accidents in the field which thankfully just turned out to be skin damage as she just missed damaging all the vital structures in her legs.

I phoned NFU when it was due for re-newal and mentioned about looking for quotes but was advised that as I had already had two big claims I would struggle to get a better quote. Cant fault the service from them though as they were very quick and efficient organising the payout.

They have also not excluded my mares legs.
