Just wondering really - i know i have had days where i ache from head to toe - today is one of them and i figure this is because of all the heavy lifiting and carrying in pretty icy conditions.

I am tired and skint - and have honestly felt like selling the lot.

So has this winter pushed anyone too far ?

not quite that bad but with all my medical problems it has made me realize I NEED HELP!!! so have arrange for someone on yard to do chores 2 days a week. I just can't cope anymore

NOOOOO....weather wouldnt make me want to sell up.
Yes its tiring and horrible in winter and with extreme weather etc but when I think of hacking after work in the summer it makes it all worth it!

Not seriousley considered it but have been known to mumbling 'dont know why we bother' a few times through each winter. The weather wouldn't ever make me sell up though, just grin and bare it until summer comes. I only brought my 2 girls just after xmas so no way i'd think about it this winter! lol

We get extreme winters every year for months. Bitter cold, tons of snow and everything frozen solid is an expected situation to be in. I do feel that way a few times during the winter but never seriously. As soon as spring comes I forget I ever felt that way.

I am too busy at that point complaining about flies, mosquitoes and other things to worry about anything Else.

If anyone gets seriously pushed over the edge of ownership after one month of bad weather I expect they were on the fence really wanting horses anyhow.

everyone has days like that - too much work and too little play! Just tell yourself that you will only know if you really mean it when it is summer and straight forward again!

but if it is really getting you down, we are apparently due another cold blitz so maybe worth putting some calls out for help or thinking of anything else you can do to make life easier could be a good idea..!

About this time every winter I decide to give up and sell the lot then the spring comes and life isn't so bad after all so I totally understand anyone else feeling this way too. I have cut down a lot, just need to sell two more youngsters and then I'll be totally happy!

[/ QUOTE ] same here, its been a bit of a struggle with looking after 3 on my own these past 5 weeks,my health isnt great and i was getting a bit down as going through lots of hay and v broke but now this weekend my sharers are back riding and they help out with bits and donate a small amount to me so am now looking forward to spring when we can all go out for a ride together, its the not riding that doesnt help as u feel you are doing all these endless chores and not getting much back.

I just keep saying to myself that spring/summer can't be too far away now! but it has crossed my mind for a split second that if i didnt have the horses i could be warm and dry all day long instead of soaking wet and cold to the bone!! But hey, life would be boring without the neddies keeping us on our toes...

Yes I am afraid it has. Its a bit more than the weather in my case.

DIY this winter has made me realise that with my confidence issues I need to have a break from horses for a year or two.

I really like my horse I like him so much that I am going to sell him to someone who has more time and will compete him I know he will be great becuase he is such a nice person just a bit too much for me.

I lost my confidence big time with a grey mare I once owned. Couldnt even put my foot in the stirrup.

So I got bucked off on a fun ride in July and then had no probs until the Friday before Christmas when Mr excited did a whoopee in the middle of a canter and I was not concentrating think I was planning what order to cook me dinner in!

Than all the snow and ice on top of that was literally the 'Icing on the Cake'. So I owe it to me to sell up and have a horse owning break.

Really nice well bred 16.3 Bay gelding anyone ?
