I set off as usual at 6am but had to abandon the car and walk the rest of the way up to the yard in a blizzard. Turned my mare and friends mare out and got stable ready. Phoned the work to say I'd be late - they said don't come in due to heavy snow. So they emailed me some work and I worked from home. My friend brought them in this afternoon so I don't need to try and get back up tonight (deep joy!). Hope things return to normal tomorrow - I'm getting fed up with this.
So how did everyone else cope? (Prize awarded for the most horrendous journey!)

It isn't just the weather that has affected my routine, but it doesn't help.

Both my cars broke within 3 days of each other and although I got one back on the road, the other is going to be in excess of £3000 to fix so bye bye jeep. New car was supposed to go for MOT today but didn't manage due to snow. It's being MOT'ed before I get it. How we managed with one car reviously I have no idea.
I'm now waiting for OH to come back so I can go do ponies as they're due to be done at 3pm. Nice late night, playing hunt the frozen poo. At least they live out!!

Its not effecting me yet, Im a rep covering all of East Anglia and Midlands, so when it hits us, ill be staying in! But my folks are in Scarborough and my Mom is having to pay £8 for a taxi everyday to do a 2 mile journey to work as her MGF isnt really suitable:D
Im a Yorkshire lass so dont wimp out too easily, but you guys in Scotland - HATS OFF!!!! I think i'd have moved to Oz by now:D

No prizes for me then, I didn't make any journeys at all. Spent all morning trying to dig car out, failed, so came back in to the house. Schools all shut (I'm a teacher) but plenty of planning to do.

Yard owner sorted horse out for me (and everyone elses - think I owe her big time!)

:)

My car is stuck in the lane next to my yard. So had to walk. Not too bad as I'd got everything organised earler including feeding the sheep. But Tomorrow is Another Day......................................

I agree with smifyimp... hats off to the Scots!! It has only really come here today, was ok this morning bad this after had about a foot at mine, YO will def be doing horses tomorrow unless i hike...won't be going to work as unfortunately i have now got my car parked on our drive and no way it will get back up the hill in this when it freeze.
Note to self- buy a car that actually likes snow and doesn't go sideways as soon as it hits abit of snow

I work in a school. Closed on Monday so walked the three miles to horse. Had soup and sandwich from our on site tack shop, horses out for about 3 hours while I mucked out, hay nets etc. and tried to stay warm, then walked back home. Same again today....she makes great veg. soup! Looks like same again tomorrow as the schools are closed again but maybe I'll try and take the car as I'm knackered with all this walking! My poor pathetic horses are absolutely starving and really hard done to by getting shoved out in all this snow and stand at the gate for a wee while making poor pathetic help me faces while big bad mum stuffs her face( lol)

I am trying to stay positive by thinking of the cals we are burning with all this walking in the snow. I'm sure walking through snow must burn more cals than ordinary walking. You are lucky having an on site tuck shop. We have a minging kettle that's used for various other purposes as well as tea/coffee making!

It doesn't affect me with work as I live almost next door to my workplace so no excuses there lol. However I had to abandon going to the yard today after my car started to slide on the hill almost planting me into the side of a parked car. Now my horse is on full livery until further notice as no way I can get up to the yard now as it is still snowing very heavily outside. Unfortunately walking to the yard isn't an option as its over 16 miles away!

Nothing interesting really but I only went up once instead of twice (they are full turnout with a hay round in the field so no problems there).

My little car said NO WAY!!

Mums misubishi Delica powered through the snow. There was a car stopped on the main road that was fairly passable between my village and another. We stopped to see if they needed help or a push, it was two young lads who has stopped to play in the snow on their way back from work. I told them that it was bloody stupid and that they were parked in the middle of a icy road and I was promptly told to f off NICE!!!!!!! Hope their new golf did get hit personally.

And my recently reproofed and repaired Masta rug was leaking and Samba was a shivering wreck, I was not happy at all!!!!!! Rang them and they have siad they will re proof it but still you expect a newly reproofed rug (2 weeks ago) to not leak!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I didnt poo pick though.

The horse track was bad so walked up the farm but we had water and the troughs werent frozen so just white stuff every where and a few people who shouldnt be driving is the problem here!
