Everytime I read a rant post on here I'm terrified that the person/people/yard its about will come on here and, even though names aren't used, know its about them and post a nasty reply.

Has that ever happened on here?

Yes a few times.
That's why I tend not to rant on here (sometimes it's too hard not to) but it's a small world and HHO has a lot of users.

It has happened.

You'd be surprised how many people lurk as well - hence why I'd always try and be very discreet if I wanted to discuss a horsey issue on here!

Sometimes it amazes me how much detail people put on here when it's such a large forum, and also new members can also decide to join the day you've moaned about them!!

Stuff I've put on here has got back to the yard but it doesn't matter as I'd never post anything I wouldn't say ON the yard.

I'm sure with my last yard there have been rants I've wanted to have but haven't dared :D

I seem to remember at least one person bitching about their YO, then posting to say they'd been asked to leave the yard, having 'forgotten' that the YO was a member on here...

That is brilliant!

This is exactly the reason I liked my private yard, and the reason I love my little 6 other horse's, 4 other owner's yard [= Not a bad word to say about it [=

bexcy-bee x

It has happened, but also what many people forget when they post on here, often when they start massive rants on pro's a lot of the pro's will have seen what is written. And when someone says something as being true when in fact it is a rumour they have heard, they can get in lots of trouble!

Yep it's happened.

Never say anything on here you wouldn't say to a persons face, then you won't have a problem ;)

Gosh I can't imgaine, I'd be so shamed if that happened LOL!

People are either very brave or stupid, or perhaps a bit of both! The horse world is a small world after all. I kind of assumed not everyone would get away with some of the things they say, but the first thing that usually goes through my head is, if you're THAT irritated with someone, why don't you TELL them and work it out?!

Don't worry I have nothing to rant about, I'm on a yard with box_of_frogs (not sure if any of the others are on here) and its fantastic, loads of help and support but no bitchiness that I've experienced yet! I consider myself very lucky after reading so many nightmare Yard threads!

Hmm. I first found this forum when I was told there was a poster on here basically telling vicious lies about me and the yard I was on. I checked it out and, lo and behold, it was true. I kept quiet and waited for it to blow over because I think there are few things less dignified than airing dirty laundry in public.

I continued to lurk, horrified. I wondered what sort of mindless harridans would frequent a forum where blind slander and vitriol went unchecked. I swiftly realised that the good far outweigh the bad - in the forum as in life. I joined and think that, for the most part, HHO is a brilliant resource as well as lots of fun.

However, I never comment on threads where the OP is slating someone else who cannot, or chooses not to, defend themselves. I know only too well that there are two sides to every story.

I have been surprised, I must admit, at some of the posts I have read on here. I don't think it is helpful to 'slag' anyone off and much more useful to sort things out face-to-face, if possible. Sometimes it is useful to get something off your chest, of course - but no need to be personal with other posters.

Some advice that I always remember, came from my head-teacher when talking about FB (I am a teacher) - that is, not to say anything that you wouldn't like announced in assembly (so, on here - don't say anything that you wouldn't like repeated to the people it concerns). That is really the rule by which I abide. :)

I agree- anything I've said on here I will say to their faces.

Even the one a few weeks ago when I was dreadfully upset- I came on here to air it, but I would still have said all those things to the people involved, I just needed to calm down first!!

But I can be quite bolshy in RL too (if not more so than on here) so it's all good :D

I would never deliberately name names etc though or give strong hints as to who they are- that's just idiotic

But did you get your revenge??:D

If people are daft enough to post info that can identify them, then they deserve everything they get.....

Don't give too much info away and post for advice, then thats fine, but if someone is out and out slagging off a person/yard etc etc....then they must be prepared to reap what they sow.

I just slag myself off...because I have my own yard....hahahahaa!

:D
