A friends youngster had a fit of hiccups yesterday. Not something I have witnessed before, quite funny really! Has anyone else come across this before?

YES!!
I was grooming him a couple of months back and he kept jerking and breathing oddly- i was really worried as he kept doing it and eventually ran to get help as my horse was about to have a fit or something (bit embarrassing now)
Anyway the lady i called told me he had hiccups and looked at me as if i was mad!
I had horses 18 years but have never heard a hiccupping horse before or since.

I had custody of a hicupper. He used to get them regularly enough for me to shrug it off! Very odd and very amusing. He didn't seem bothered at all and the attacks weren't much longer than about ten minutes. A 14.2 Connemara TB

I had a welsh sec B yougster who suffered from this. I sold her when she was 3 so I don't know if she still does it. Would love to know where she is as I have lost track.

Yes, called the vet when he first did it as really worried and told me to not try and shock him or anything like a human but to leave him in a calm environment
