My little Newfie pony has only just started to lose a bit from his neck. I bathed him yesterday to see if I could loosen some of it off, but its just not working! I can now only work him for 10 mins before he starts sweating buckets.
 
My TB X Connie has a hunter clip but his saddle mark and legs are still very hairy! He is casting but there still seems a long way to go. I don't know where you live but I'm in Northumberland so it takes longer for the summer coats to come through than 'down south' where it's a bit milder.
 
My 3 NFs (1 x yearling, 1 x 2 yr old and 1 x 3 yr old) started to lose their coats a couple of weeks ago but it all ground to a halt after a couple of days and the coats aren't budging at all at the moment - perhaps they know something we don't about the upcoming weather (they live out)! My AAxWB filly doesn't grow much coat anyway and hers has pretty much all gone.
 
My riding horse was hunter clipped so is in her summer coat where she was clipped, but you can still just about see her legs and saddle area. My yearlings still have tons to go, I felt very sorry for them yesterday, we had about the hottest day of the year so far and they looked miserable!! Sweating and flies! The sooner they lose it the better. One is wb cross one is cob cross.
 
Mollie and Mystic are loosing their coat, it seems to be never ending, problem with mystic is it makes him look really messy and un groomed as the white hairs go on the brown and brown hairs on the white, the more i groom the more comes out.
Monty was full clipped near the end of winter :)
 
I have one unclipped, who is shedding hair all over the place, but the 3 who are hunter clipped don't seem to be growing any sort of summer coat at all. At this rate I won't need to clip this autumn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Can you clip him? If you show then it wouldnt be suitable to do so, but I clip my 2 veteran retired ponies every year at this time (did one last week!). I give them both blanket clips as now they're older, they never loose their tummy and chin hair anymore. They also take so long to lose it that they're sweltering. One of them absolutely loves being clipped and goes nuts afterwards rolling, bronc'ing about the field for days - she acts as if literally she feels lighter (she is a shetland, they do get SUPER hairy!). I dont know why people are so against clipping at this time of year, if it makes the pony more comfortable I dont know why not.
 
Im in aberdeenshire too lachlanandmarcus! It snowed all morning today didnt lie though not that im dissapointed though!! Where are you?

My 2 are still quite fluffy!!
 
hi well paddy is mostly got his summer coat and looks very smart too :D
he started sheddin when i was in yorks and that was about 5 weeks ago.
i hate to think how much of his coat ive swollowed lol
