hat dilemma.

so its getting close to the first show of the season & this year the boy is fit & well so im sorting out ready but am not sure what hat (if any) with him.

he is a sec A & we only do native classes, condition & turnout type classes. i have brown trousers, waistcoat & boots with white shirt but i dont have any idea on hat, 2 years ago i either wore my riding hat but couldnt find a brown cover so ended up with navy or black that didnt look much & i felt a bit underdressed without a hat on.

what sort of thing will look best & is acceptable?

I'm no expert on this - but if you mean the outfit in your signature - then search the charity shops for a darkish brown trilby type hat - that would look nice.

Your normal riding hat would be okay - carry on the search for a brown cover, but if you still can't find one, I personally think the black would look better than the blue.

Hopefully someone else with better knowledge of showing etiquette will pick this up - as I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!

yup thats the outfit, looks great untill you get to the huge hat on top.

ive seen a nice hat on Ebay that i think will suit but as its miles away cant try it on first, i have a very small head and most hats just swamp me.

get the sizing out of your riding hat/ measure round your head and contact them to find out what would be the best with the measurements you have.

Or Ditch the whole in hand thing and do the whole mummy thing with little 'un (s) on lead rein, and have a whole new outfit
