I have got a Charles Owen Pro II which I need to replace due to it's age - I was going to replace with an identical one, but just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for anything they think is better? Before I had the Pro II I used to have to replace my hat every year or so as it got revolting (I seem to have a very hot head when riding!) but never had a problem since having the Pro II, I have tried Champion hats in the past but they don't suit the shape of my head.

The hat will be for BE eventually so will need to comply accordingly :)

Sorry to be dim, but what actually is the difference between the Pro II and the 4 star? I've looked on their website and it seems the 4 star is a higher safety spec, is that right?

4 star: Safety Standards: Kitemarked to PAS015:2011; Certified by SEI to ASTM F1163 and SNELL certified to SNELL E2001
Pro II: Safety Standards: Kitemarked to PAS015:2011 and certified by SEI to ASTM F1163.

So has the additional rating - hopefully should mean it's reasonably future proof in terms of rule changes!!

I would go to a shop which stocked enough variety and try some of the newer models on - I really wanted the HS1 when they came out, but they perched on top of my head like a small hankerchief and were completely the wrong shape for my head.

See what fits!

Another vote for the 4 star. Really like mine, I don't feel overly hot in it which is a bonus and feels very secure.

I really fancy the Wellington Pro. I like Charles Owen hats, don't want to follow the crowd with an Ayr 8 and I like the padding at the back. My skullcap is a J3 and I like the padding and style of the straps on that. Trouble is I can't seem to find local stockists :(

Both my daughter and I switched from the HS1 to the 4 star, find them more confortable and my head doesn't get so hot in it :)
