Bit of a boring post but someone may be able to help. I have a very small head (6 5/8 in old currency) and can usually find children's hats that seem to fit and are much cheaper. Does anyone know if there's actually a difference in the shape or sizing of an adult 6 5/8 compared with a child's 6 5/8 or are they the same hat underneath?

Thanks if anyone knows.

And yes it's because I have a small brain. It is perfectly preserved, having hardly ever been used (and I am trying to keep it that way). :)

The only thing that I know about kids v adults hats is that adult sized hats have VAT added and kids sizes don't, so that would explain the price difference.

Can't remember if this is actually brand-specific but IIRC, children's hats aren't made to come as far down the head as adults' hats - e.g. a child's size 2 jockey skull on an adult with a size 2 head might not cover enough of the back of the head, whereas the adult version would.

Thanks for this - it's what I suspected (that the shape is different) but didn't know. I'll ask at the tack shop but guess I'll have to carry on paying the VAT...
