Hating the dark evenings already and its only day 2!!

Am feeling miserable about the clocks changing and the evenings being even darker, it only seems a few weeks ago it was summertime!!

My youngster did not enjoy schooling last night in the shadowy light of the floodlight my lovely OH has put up for us in the tree. She was convinced there were goblins in all the trees and bushes around the school and put on quite an impressive display of spooking & snorting!! Hoping she will be better this evening as we have ressage on Sunday and need the practise!

Ah well I guess I should be grateful at least the snow & ice isn't here yet!! LOL
 
I'm a happy bunny - had a lovely ride in the school this morning - in a t-shirt- and didn't need lights. Even considered going for a hack. Doubt I'll get away with it for long though.
 
I love it. Hate the dark evenings but I only ride 3 nights a week and am lucky to have floodlights but I ride EVERY morning before work so far better to have light mornings!!
 
Look on the bright side, it is 2 days closer to the clocks changing again :D

Only 8 weeks (ish) until the Winter Solstice and the days start getting longer. :D:D

Just look at every day as a completely new one,
forget about yesterday, and tomorrow, because yesterday has been and gone, and tomorrow never comes.

I am another one who's hating all the dark. I ride in the mornings so that is fine but the horses are pacing up and down to come in by the time I get back at 1745. Ideally I'd like someone to bring them in at 1100 as by then they are bored and ready to be in their stables. I had two loose ones this morning which was exciting - I was ready to send them both to the glue factory! They then redeemed themselves after I had ridden and they were being very snuggly. It just crazes me when they make things harder for themselves and for me!
 
me too, shock to the system :( Sure I will be used to doing everything in the dark again in no time.

Having a rethink on having black horses though, a beggar to find the right one in a pitch dark field :D
 
I know it horrible isn’t it, especially when I look out of the office window now and see that it’s a lovely Autumn afternoon with blue sky, sunshine and no horrid wind.

Come end of play at 5pm when you finish work and it’s dark now, seemed to take forever driving home after work yesterday.

Arrive at a dark and very quiet yard, nobody else about, yep all rather depressing, I end up having to talk to myself to keep myself company before I’ve caught one of the horses lol.

Then of course you have to motivate yourself to ride in an outdoor school in the freezing cold and dark with the goblin infested 4 corners of the arena (although to be fair Mr M's ok but the mare can skitter sometimes)….oh the fun, bring on our rubbish British summer time, all is forgiven! :(
 
Ah, you lucky people with schools, I get to be a slave to the stable all winter, with barely any riding (yorkshiremen post coming up! :D )

Winter evenings are cosy, you get to put your feet up in the knowledge that its dark and nothing can be done outside, and we have christmas, mulled wine and lots of food and drink to look forward to, bring it on! Christmas market will be here in 3 weeks too - yippee! :)
 
I was only thinking this morning - I'm going to need my gloves for tomorrow ! Last night on the way to the yard form work was HORRID ! the dark and the rain yuck

It is still quite mild though my horse really needs a clip as she is sweating in her LW TO but I daren't chuck out a naked grey yeti as I haven't got the time to get all the mud off her in the evenings - she also came in with a huge horse fly bite on her side on Sunday night you'd have thought we'd have go rid of the flies by now, for some reason this year she has had a few bad reactions swellings to fly bites but never before - could she be lacking something ??
