It looked so different when I was a child, smart riders with gleaming tack, glossy horses, indoor showjumping on the TV....

Why did nobody explain the reality? I have kept horses for many years, tried many different approaches, different disciplines but no matter what I do, at some point in each day there is a point where I will be beet red with exertion, sweating profusely and covered in mud.

I was born to be a dressage diva, to wear tails and be breathtakingly glamorous.

Where am I going wrong?

Watcher I am still waiting for those incredibly elegant, never endingly long legs to appear, you know, the ones that wrap round and lift the horse, effortlessly, into that incredible bascule shape........been 5'4 for the last 35 years.....should I give up hope yet??

I think we all need to be rich! Then we could hire slaves to do all the dirty jobs and you could have your dream of waltzing out of your Whitaker horse lorry all done up looking super duper glamorous and simply hopping on board. We can all dream.....

, but of the three she is the least hard work, and the other two are bigger and far more elegant..sadly, in spite of my best efforts, I am not

I've got the very long legs

however when I wrap them around the horse, it just does'nt go like those ones in the photos - she just plods (actually any ned I wrap the legs around never goes like the ones in the photos!!!!!!!!!)

PS I am the mud magnet in our household!!!!

I am the same. When I was little I dreamed of owning a glamourous, plaited, elegant horse which always went in a perfect outline, could do half-pass in an instant, and I could ride it looking dainty and graceful....instead I am 5ft 3 with a black hairy Dales who thinks it's "beneath" him to canter...
