That I love my pony

Today was Snoops 2nd ever xc schooling session, this time at Aston le Walls. I invited a friend with an equally inexperienced pony and Tigers_eye with the highly talented William aka Mr Naughty.

I was running late, and arrived 30 mins later than planned, friend was already waiting and T_E was still stuck on the Motorway.
Anyway, went off to the field to have some fun. We started off just trotting and cantering around then went off for a splash in the water. Snoopy was far more bold and literally just dropped his head and stepped in.
After that I trotted him through but he was keen and cantered boldy through soaking us both in the process.
Off then to the two rails in the middle of the field, those jumped really well and i incorporated the water and jumped out over the house. Well bold as brass he jumped the lot.
On then to the ditch and rail and he popped sweetly over this without question.
T_E had then entered the field with the gorgeous William.
Whilst she was warming up, I went off and played a bit more, this time popping the ditch to rail again, up and over the bank, over a hanging log over the house and into the water, the big novice hedge out of the water and over the coffin fence. Feeling really confident i kicked on to the trakenher and he soared over that without a look.
Poor T_E had come to give me a lead, but I didnt need one.
Vic then went off and showed us how the it should be done making nothing of any of the novice fences, bouncing into the water and over a triple skinny brush fence without the aid of any wings.
William looks like he will quickly upgrade to Intermediate and at only 6 years old too.
Whilst walking round, my friend had some problems with her little mare, so uncle William became the lead horse he had come for after all lol.
Back at the lorry and Astons owner came over, she thought snoopy was lovely and that if i was ever interested in selling

However, methinks she may have changed her mind after seeing him playing silly buggers when we tried to load him.
After such a super afternoon, the little git had to remind me that HE IS BOSS and that he didnt want to go home arghhhhhhh.
Thankfully he got bored after 10 minutes and walked happily into the lorry, but not before he removed the door hinge arghhhhhhh.

Enough of this totally self indulgent post, but i cant stop

Thanks for reading.

Argh...
Also forgot to say, he flew his first corner today too, i just saw a fence and kicked for it not realising it was a corner lol straight as a dye he flew it in fine style.
Okay will shut up now

What an amazing little boy Snoops is! You must be such a proud mum and rightly so!

Must feel great to have such a confident horse at this stage in his career!

Joe and i did some jumping out hacking today - post and rail fencing! And some more fencing, then 2 strides into a stream and out the other side! Think we will be fine in water too!

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments

ho hum, hopefully we will capture some xc photos soon, would have loved to have seen him going round tho.

Ash I dont think you will have any probs with water by the sounds of it hun

Are you going to MKEC hunter trial next week?

What a good day. He really is a little star isn't he?!

Anyway, what happened to you SJ plans, young lady. You're sounding far too much like an eventer still

Glad your day was better than mine - i fell off jumping a bl**dy log! Think Finn wondered where i'd gone and decided to carry on xc schooling by himself.....

Snoopy is telling you he REEEEEALLLY wants to be an eventer, is much more exciting than SJ.
Sounds like he was fab.
He should be more than ready for his first intro (walked one yesterday (OH was doing PN) and there was only one combination - ditch to house, and an small step into water). Seemed quite straightforward, and I assume your SJ is v good???
Have you one planned???

Fiona

Hi F
smile.gif

Yep we are doing Tweseldown Unaffiliated ODE Intro end of April.
Then prob Intro at warwickshire college, then PN at Aston.
Something to get our teeth in to.

His sjing is good, i think he will cope better with eventing sjing as its less long than the usual 12 (2 phase) hes used too. He gets tired i think and just taps them out towards the end.

Now to just iron out our dressage creases, trot to halt can cause *stand up* and wave at the judge

Fab news! Very exciting for you and I am sure you must be on a confidence high!

Thats so fab V, he's going to be superb!
Are you still thinking of doing Mattingley at the end of May? Am hoping to do that one as my first with Owen, would be great to see you there!

Naww fanks Vic

I did feel a complete lemon after asking you to come and then not requiring your xc services...although thank the lord you came and helped us get the bugger in the lorry.

Lec: I havent felt this confident about a horse in a very long time.

Forrest: Yes, def going to Mattingley in may and then back again to LM for the PAVO qualifier. Be great to catch up.

S_J: I am so sorry I didnt get to speak to you properly yesterday. LMAO, I doubt it will be gatcombe for us next year, but it would be a lovely thought.
Have you entered Withington yet?

PMSL, sarah, we have to jump those coloured poles too tho lol
And anyway, we've just become a member of the BSJA, so NO WAY am i wasting membership now lol
Suzy is very diappointed that hes gonna be an eventer lol
