I am not the most confident jumper about but do enjoy it alot and so does my mare. She is showing potential to be very good but needs a confident rider to help her along, she has never done any jumping in the past and is rising 5 (july) i had a jumping lesson last thurs and she went really well, instructor was brill and gave me loads of confidence which in turn gave my mare the confidence she needed. As soon as shes faced with a jump she gets really excited, wants to canter into it and starts changing from one lead to the other - almost on the spot! so long as am confident and use my leg she will jump. However, i tried jumping today with a friend, did a cross pole a few times and 3 in a row which she was fine with. Then we tried a filler, she refused this several times and it started to affect my confidence then hers :( pulled the filler apart and put a small straight pole in the middle, she cleared it then. Took her round all the jumps again and she just kept refusing all of them :( she was keen up untill last minate then put the brakes on :( managed to get her over a cross pole to finish on a better note but now worried that i have made her loose her confidence in jumping :( feel really bad about it now and wish i hadnt have bothered jumping today. I have a flat work lesson on wed with instructor this week but dont think i will bother jumping again untill he is about.
Hope i havent over faced her :( any advice?

Don't worry too much. Do flat work and add some pole work in too. Have your flat lesson and maybe ask for a jumping lesson next time. School around the jumps but don;t always jump them - this will help with your mares confirdence around jumps and also help to calm her as she won't get excited every time she sees a jump if you don;t always jump them, if you know what I mean. Keep it small and keep the fillers out to the sides and take it slowly, I'm sure she'll be back on form.
