Hi Guys,

Just looking at adverts for horses to loan and came across this one.... Although the owner is being very honest and its refreshing to see this... but just wondered after reading the below, is there anyone on here that would take a horse like this on? i know it may not be the horses fault..but wow sounds a handfull. xxx

16.2 Black Hackney x 7yrs 4 white socks.
This horse will be a challange, but if you are short tempered or quick with your fists, stop reading this ad now !
Through human ignorance this horse has been beaten so his behavior relates to this . He is NOT a nasty horse. HE was rebacked in july but has not been ridden since October so he will need to start from scratch. He has a stinking buck so be prepared to hit the deck. He has one of the worst seperation anxioties I have ever known. The person to take him on must have : vast experiance with producing youngsters. Have the time to work him daily. Have acalm and positive attitude even when you have been dumped for the third time. Maybe someone ho has had experiance in natural horsemanship.
We want a lifetime loan situation for him.
If it does not work out we would have him straight back

My worry would be that they are looking for somebody to sort their horse out for them for nothing, then they'll take it back, I know they say they're looking for a home for life for him but unless I know them I wouldn't trust them not to take the horse back once he's going well.

He sounds like he could potentially be quite dangerous, there's no way I'd put myself at risk for the sake of schooling somebody else's horse.

It sounds like the poor creature has had a bad time in the past, so I hope they are able to find a nice home for him but it'll be hard to find the right person who's willing to take a chance on him.

Think I agree with Turkana, altho they could be really genuine. Perhaps they should be payng for a professional to restart him and see where t goes from there. Sounds like the horse has had a bad time of it

it also sounds a bit dangerous, if you were loaning out a horse like this could you live with the fact that someone may seriously get hurt sorting out your horse?

I do feel for the horse and agree the owner should get a professional to help... its honest but reading the advert it didnt make me think oh yeah i will bring him home today

My mum did one of these, they took it back after a year for their daughter to do pc on and ruined it needless to say mum didn't take it back when offered. Later found out it had been sold on.
Wouldn't do a lifetime loan with a horse yoy are putting work into.
But just me being untrusting.
They do seem honest but a bit defeated at the same time. But that would explain the want to get rid. The horse itself doesn't sound as bad as it could be.

I'd probably take that if I was looking to loan. I took a slightly mental selle francais that had had three years off as a brood mare. Couldn't try her and had to restart her. She went back after just over a year and was sold on going sweetly. No skin off my nose. He sounds quite nice to me.

I think I'd probably try and get it written into the contract that he was with me for at least two years or something along those lines but I quite like a project and I wouldn't necessarily expect to actually keep him for a life time.

I might be barking mad though of course.

if i was at my old yard then yes i would take it on, i had a TB that was very similar and she overcame alot of her issues and became a lovely horse to hack out on.

they say he's got a nasty buck, i don't mean to sound like i'm dissing them or bigging myself up or anything but maybe their idea of a nasty buck is the equivalent of what i regard as a playful buck. same could be said for the whole advert, they may be experienced with horses however not this one.

i don't mean ^^^^ that to sound mean at all and hopefully you guys will understand what i'm saying!
