Am I just too competitive?

I would love to start doing some elementarys with Axel, and they used to have Trailblazers at Golden Cross every month and would have a prelim, a novice and an elementary.

Now they have a walk and trot but no elementary until april which is the last and only one before the 2nd round.

Go afflicted instead

i dont think you can be too competitive, i also think if people dont want to compete its not a lack of ambition, its just a different way of doing things/different ambitions

Perhaps people have ambition but lack confidence, I'm very ambitious but lack confidence which kind of holds me back.

Also perhaps people don't always have the horses to match their ambition.

And yes some people have no ambition other than to enjoy their horses whats the saying differnt courses for different horses- well something like that anyways!

I have ambition - I don't compete, never have probably never will, but my ambition is to ENJOY my neddies.

Think it depends where you are - I do unaff once a month at a venue which holds unaff up to Advance Medium. Are there any dedecated presage centers near you? That might be a better bet.

I wonder whether part of the reason is that once people reach elementary standard they tend to opt for affiliated rather than unaffiliated.

Sorry I realise that my post must have sounded a bit brattish, but I was really p**d off

Its very good that there are lots of walk and trot tests everywhere now. When Axel was a baby there was 1 in my area, and GX did an elementary trailblazers which was way out of my league then.

Its sods law that now I'm ready for the big E they don't do them but now do walk and trot instead.

Why does everything seem to be dumbing down? Even BSJA have lowered their heights, when I showjumped BN was 1m and Disco was 1.05, but they are smaller now aren't they?
I guess they would get more entries for a walk and trot than an elementary, looking at the results there's never more than 4 or 5 in it.

I might affiliate as they do BD at GX once a month inc Elementary

You only need to look at our dressage to comp to see. 30 entries for the walk and trot and only 5/6 for the novice. Can you see them letting me add an elemetry to the list. I don't think so it would only be you doing it!!!

These things often go in cycles. I can only comment with my BSJA hat on, but two years ago you couldn't find a 1.20m to jump for love nor money in Sussex, but now they're starting to re-appear again. I wonder if you get cycles of people getting new less experienced horses and so it takes time to build them up to that sort of level
