have just seen a warning ive got already ! ( start as you mean to go on ! ) because i commented on a thread about a certain infamous dealer . i have replied to them but the message came straight back to me . SO can anyone enlighten me on a few points that i dont get please ? firstly i have seen threads on here that name dealers and their businesses and some of these threads have been around a while and are pretty detrimental . they dont get pulled. whereas i never said an actual name although it would be clear to those that know , everything i said was factual and many people agree , so its not just a falling out or sour grapes etc. i actually consider this person a danger ! so why have i contravened rules when others who comment on other dealers havnt ? please explain

I expect the ones that carry on a bit longer are just because they aren't bought to the attention of TFC as quickly. Probably best to PM if it's about a dealer as it seems to be a complete no go area these days!

Unfortunately we live in a world where there is no such thing as free speach. Even if what you say is factual, you cannot say bad things about people on here because they might spit their dummy out and sue. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it is true. I am new here too, but had a little look at the rules about it when somebody else mentioned in a thread about not being allowed to mention a certain thing and yes, it does say in the rules you can't say 'bad' things, even if you don't actually mention the name of the person!

I don't know why the other threads don't get pulled though.

yes thats true , i suppose it stands to reason if they advertise in H&H that they will browse the forum. what i dont understand though is , if , what LOTS of people say is true why worry about them sueing ? surely they never would anyway and if they did loads of people would go against them to the point of loads of publicity and total embarrassment on their part ( if they have any emotion of course ) and job done . no ?

The issue would be if they claim against IPC, who of course "own" all that is typed here. IPC won't want to be paying out to dodgy dealers to recompense them for opinions stated on here that might be damaging to the dealers' business.
