My 13 year old daughter hunts with the South Shropshire and got her boxing day picture in the local paper a couple of days ago.
Returned to work after christmas break yesterday to a few snidey remarks...barstewards!!
I told them all I was proud of her for following what she believes in and that I was right behind her.
What would you say???

Tell them to get a life!
Before children I worked for a large supermarket in Hornchurch and Romford. Most people were fine about hunting and the very small minority that objected, I ignored!
Tell her to go, girl!!

Ask them just what they object to about hunting! In most cases opposition is based on pure ignorance and the remainder on pure bigotry!

Oh its mostly ignorance, I'm well aware of that... but I also find the majority of my work colleagues too far up their own backsides to consider anybody elses points of view!
NHS.....political views are very cynical!!!!

hehe that made me chuckle!! its very true! i want to start hunting and asked my parents what they though of it, mums fine with it but dad just laughed and said looks like it beng getting you rider insurace! teehee

its none of them people at works decision and if they don't believe in hunting fair enough though there is no need for snide remarks about your daughter being in the paper! good on her for hunting!

It could quite well be ignorance but then again I find a lot of pros so far up their own backsides they refuse to consider anyone else's point of view!

Well Boudicca the MPS who voted for the Hunting Act were told again and again that the law was flawed by all sorts of people including the government. However those sensible moderate voices were somwhat muffled because of where their heads were at.

Maybe they should look at the law again but I guess it's kind of dark in there.

There is no sensible reason why I should obey the Hunting Act in terms of animal welfare or my own interests. Its far better all round that I just break it. After all my local police force won't lift a finger to stop me.

The majority of people beleive that the hunting act is not working and that it will be repealed.

Could it maybe be you who has your head firmly inserted up your bottom?

Push hard and just maybe you will begin to see the light.

Boudi, you have to realize its ignorance when you get antis saying things such as ' people only hunt because they want to see animals killed', or, from Hobday of LACS, 'the Hunting Act has stopped cruelty to foxes': just how ignorant do you have to be before its recognized!

I used to get that sort of comment from my form tutor at school, which was just unacceptable IMO! Really got grief because he knew I hunted (same sort of situation). I have no problems with people having opinions, but the disrespect is unacceptable IMHO!!

Do you work for the NHS? In that case its ironic that the time and money put into the ban could have gone on much needed improvements for the NHS - and they are moning? If I worked for them I would oppose the ban on account of it being a complete waste!

Not so. Not for me anyway.

If people are giving you a hard time to the extent of bullying in the work place then I think thats very wrong but you have to remember that it's a very emotive issue and you have to respect the right of people to disagree with what they believe to be a barbaric and dispicable act of cruelty for the sake of entertainment .

Perhaps if you explain to them that your daughter hunts within the law they may see things differently.

Ah, the true face of NELS starting to show there, Endy. Is that the argument you use to justify their proto-terrorist actions?

Pro-terrorist, HAHAHAHA!! Do you even know what terrorism is? If you think NELS are terrorists then I'm afraid a lot of hunters are too because I've seen them do just as NELS do - and worse.

I said in my post that I dont think its right for this woman to be made to feel uncomfortable at work. Does that sound like the view of an extremist? Quite civil I think, unlike some of the suggestions from pro's that she tell her collegues to F*ck off!!

My point was simply that she has to understand how other people feel about hunting and perhaps try to explain her point of view to them.

Have you really seen hunting people assault children? Or commit arson? Or deliberately release animals onto the roads? And the only arrest on Boxing Day I heard reported was one of your lot for carrying an offensive weapon.

And I said 'proto-terrorist', which isn't quite the same thing.

I would ask your colleagues whether they would prefer foxes to be killed with poison left indiscrimately lying around, snares or guns? If they don't, explain that traditional methods are in fact the quickest and possibly most efficient. It is amazing how many people don't really know the facts about what hunting does and the services hunts provide to rural communities.

Oh please do me a favour!

I haven't seen sabs do any of those things although I have heard many exaggerated and frankly fabricated stories about them. I know this because I've read stories on this forum about the things we're supposed to have gotten up to when in fact I've been out at the hunt where the alleged incidents are supposed to have happened and know for a fact it hasn't happened. I read once that we were supposed to have
assaulted a rider and intimidated pony club kids on a day when it was chucking it down with rain and the hunt in question packed up at 1pm. We didnt even get out the vehicle all day!! But of course, the hunt cant just be honest and say, 'packed up early due to bad weather' it had to be packed up early because the anti's were at us.

On the other hand I could give you a list of hunt convictions just in my area in the last two seasons for assualt, criminal damage and violence against protesters.

Any pro pointing the finger at sabs for violence must have a great sense of irony.

Hunting has been going on for hundreds of years now. In all that time can't you lot come up with some better excuses?  :smirk:

... but not children or animals. So the answer to my questions is no. Thank you.

....unless you count the death of a fifeteen year old protestor, eh?

But then I'm not in the habita of using unproved cases to fight my corner, no matter how much I believe them, I prefer to used cases proved through a court of law.

So why dont you do the same and list me some convictions against sabs instead of relying on fairytales?
