Have the horse flies gone?

I'm one of the few who get big allergic reaction lumps to horse fly bites but this year I bought some Jungle Formula Extra Strong spray and I've been using it every time I step outside. It's worked a treat, so well in fact that I'm wondering if the horse flies have been less this year? I don't tend to ride in hot, sunny weather either, because of my allergy.

There don't seem to be that many around the boys now either, I have to say I've only actually seen two on Roo so far, although I'm sure there must have been more. Yesterday the sun was shining and he had a load of "normal" flies buzzing around his fly mask and landing on him, but I didn't see any horse flies.

Have we got off lightly this year???
 
Don't think we got off lightly, cleggs here have been wild (that's what they call them in Scotland but what we in England refer to as horse flies) I have also seen the massive horse flies which send the horses daft so, nope, not got off lightly here, wish we had!
 
We had plenty up until about a week ago when the rain started - I expect them to back once the sun comes out again - but they don't seem to have been as bad this year
