My horse hasn't been right for a little while. Being friendly in the field and easy to catch - not traits I am used to after four years of being a bit of a horror who's impossible to catch and would often charge at me, him being nice was actually quite worrying !!

Then when we tried to brush him, he's not usually the biggest fan but recently he's been squealing and kicking out around his tummy/flank.

So on Tuesday morning he's getting an endoscope as all blood tests have come back okay so we have to only give him water all night. Anyone else done this? I just feel really guilty at the thought :(

I assume you mean a gastroscope, for ulcers, he will be fine just take his haynet away 12 hours before the scope is due to be done, I gave mine a small feed at 9 pm and took his net away, he was a bit puzzled to not get breakfast but I quickly skipped him out then went away until the vet arrived, he was sedated fairly quickly and the scoping was done then he was able to have some hay as soon as he came round from the sedation.

Agree with above. My horse had numerous scopes whilst being treated for ulcers. Felt bad everytime taking his haynet away and not giving him breakfast but he was fine once he was allowed to eat after sedation.

Worst bit was putting him into trailer to take him to vets as he's used to a treat when he gets in and a nice big haynet to munch on the way! :D

Hope your horse is OK.
